Aside from the necessary business of revealing character, I’ve come to believe that power is central to great storytelling. It’s more than just a means to an end; specifically in science fiction and fantasy, power and influence become explicit gravitational centers of a narrative. They are externalized and, more importantly, artificial.

Once in a while an idea for a mixtape takes over my brain like a computer virus. It hits me all at once that I have all the requisite parts, a theme emerges, and suddenly it’s not an idea anymore—it’s an obsession.
One last chance to nab up some R&B and soul flavored electronica for the summer. Take a disco nap first — this one’s a body slammer!
