Music Alert: Age of Distrust Remixes

I just finished two dark ambient / experimental remixes for the FREE album Age of Distrust by ambient masterminds The Creeping Man and Black Pill Machine.

Age of Distrust is upsetting as it is innovative, somehow confrontational without ever really taking any kind of discernible shape. It shifts and tumbles out of the darkness like it wants something from you. Sharp, unexpected textures bubble up from long, low rumbles and melt into pitched-down vocal samples from another era.

I’m really excited to be part of this release! Check out their individual Bandcamp pages for more mind-bending experimental / dark ambient explorations (The Creeping Man / Black Pill Machine).

Clean Up Your Browser’s Act

We’ve all been there: someone shares a link with interesting content that you just can’t quite get to. Maybe you’ve hit your limit of free articles for the month. Maybe the site doesn’t like the fact that you’re using an ad blocker. Or maybe you can access the content but you can’t enjoy it because flashy ads and auto-play videos distract the eye.

You’re not alone; most of the internet is a complete mess. JavaScript is largely to blame, but shitty website design can spill over into all kinds of platforms and technologies. The end result is an alienated audience.

Thank goodness there’s a solution!

Psycho for Psychic TV

The first time I heard Psychic TV I was hanging out at a friend’s house absolutely out of my mind on acid and weed. It was 1989. I was maybe 16.

Someone had switched on a tape in the basement den and wandered off, and I — barely able to walk — stumbled in. What the hell was this music, I thought. How could a human being have made this?

Music Alert: The Seven Whores of the Apocalypse – Magisterium

Strap in for a long night with my electro-industrial band the Seven Whores of the Apocalypse as we guide you through the abandoned padded cells of Magisterium: a cage of bone-rattling beats wraps its claws around a rubbery analog bass and hushed vocals; a bewildering array of vintage synth arpeggios punctuate the atmosphere before the whole sacramental affair is catapulted to an 80s Berlin disco, where the area clergy finally break down and try on a pair of knee-highs spiked heels just to see what all the fuss is about. Includes a throbbing tech-house dub mix.

Magisterium is now available on YouTube, Bandcamp, and SoundCloud.

Enjoy, and happy Halloween 2021! 🎃
