Orbr’s long-awaited full-length album is finally here!
Ultra Aeon contains a whopping 20 essential jungle / drum & bass bangers including remixes, previously unreleased versions, a collaboration with the legendary Ragga Twins, and the world premier of Orbr’s brand new jungle slammer Congo Menace VIP.
The good people at jungledrumandbass.co.uk have just posted Orbr’s second interview. (Orbr is my drum & bass avatar. You can check out Orbr’s tunes at the Orbr Bandcamp.)
In 1998 I had the insanely exciting opportunity to get signed to an independent record label in San Francisco. The label, Cosmic Flux Musiq, released a handful of my songs before closing up shop a few years later.
I remastered some of those old songs, starting with the Oak St Bluesman EP from 2000. Here are those remastered tracks. I hope you enjoy! (Also see the Jeweler’s Diveremasters.)
Welcome to part two of Hardcore Math User’s liquid funk history lesson!
Picking up where Faze One left off, Faze Two ups the tempo and brings a stronger funk aesthetic to the table while maintaining that shimmering watery vibe perfected by late ’90s melodic drum & bass.
It’s early summer, the perfect time of year for melodic drum & bass!
As always, there’s a bit of a history lesson. Liquid funk came of age around 2004, but the birth cries could be heard as far back as the early ’90s with the dawn of drum & bass itself.
Back once again for another old school collection. This time we’re going to the back of the crate for some heavyweight classics that will absolutely melt your face. Spanning the crucial ’92 – ’95 era, we let drum and bass legends Roni Size, Goldie, Bay B Kane, Andy C, and Aphrodite take us on the ultimate jungle safari back to where it all began.
Welcome to Hardcore Math User’s ’95 Jungle Sound Murderah mixtape!
These are some of the songs that got me seriously hooked on the jungle / drum & bass scene when I first got my start as a producer in the early ’90s. I remember completely feeling the intelligent vibe as I listened to Goldie’s Jah, Rogue Unit’s Nocturnal, and EZ Roller’s Rolled Into One. The combination of complex rhythms, mathematical symmetry and lush keyboard sounds absolutely floored me.
